Tachometer Driver - Interface for original vehicles to aftermarket ECU/Ignitions
'Tacho Driver' is a tachometer interface, it takes small voltage signals (e.g. from an ECU) and creates a high voltage pulse that will operate most conventional vehicle tachometers.
It is often found when doing vehicle modifications that involve fitting new engine management or ignition systems that the original vehicles tachometer will no longer reliably operate from the new system. This device takes a signal from the new system (like the 5V 'tacho' output from an ECU) and uses it to generate a high voltage pulse, this simulates a conventional ignition coil and will allow most original vehicle gauges to operate reliably.
If using on a vehicle fitted with a CDI ignition system (e.g. MSD) it may be best to use a 'clean' signal from the engine management ECU, rather than the tacho wire from the CDI box! Key Features
